Headlines
- About a half of the arable area is tilled and/or sown during the year.
- Autumn ploughing is used as basic tillage in almost half of the tilled/sown area, and conservation tillage is used in one fourth of the area.
- Direct sowing on non-tilled soil was carried out in 13 per cent of the tilled/sown area.
- One fifth of the fields remain bare over the winter (mainly ploughed).
- Monoculture, i.e. the continuous cultivation of the same plant species, is most common on pig farms.
- Manure was applied on one fourth of the arable area during the year.
- Almost all manure is injected or incorporated into soil after spreading.
