Description
The egg production statistics contain monthly data on the number of class A and B eggs that have been packaged and annual information on the quantities of eggs that have been used on farms. The statistics are based on information contained in the Farm Survey and on data collected quarterly from packaging plants.
Data content
Monthly statistics give the weight in kilograms of class A and B eggs that have been packaged at packaging plants. A plant’s egg volume includes both eggs that the plant has produced itself and those purchased directly from farms. Class A eggs are presented by production method: hen house with battery cages, barn-type hen house, and organic poultry farm. The annual statistics for on-farm egg usage include direct sales and use in food management.

Data collection and sources
The quantities of eggs received by packaging plants are based on data collected quarterly from plants. Almost all egg packaging plants fall under the scope of Tike’s data collection.
The statistics on on-farm egg usage are based on information obtained through the Farm Survey.
Update frequency
Monthly and annually.
Preparation and publication schedule
Data for egg production in January, February and March is available at the beginning of May, data for April, May and June at the beginning of August, data for July, August and September at the beginning of November, and data for October, November and December at the beginning of February. Annual information on on-farm egg usage is available at the beginning of March of the following year.

Data is available from the 1950s onwards.
