Headlines
- In 2009, the number of horticultural enterprises was 4,664.
- The total area for outdoor production was 15,690 hectares and the total area for greenhouse production 441 hectares.
- In terms of cultivated area, the major open-field vegetables were garden peas (2,546 ha), carrots (1,626 ha), onions (917 ha) and white cabbages (615 ha).
- The carrot crop broke records, amounting to 70 million kilos. The open-field vegetable crop totalled 179 million kilos.
- Greenhouse vegetable production amounted to about 72 million kilos, of which 38 million kilos were tomatoes and 29 million kilos were cucumbers.
- Potted vegetable production amounted to about 74 million units.
- The area under cut flower production decreased to 21 hectares.
- A record-breaking 80 million flowering bulbs were grown.
