Description

The Price Monitoring of Pork gives the average price of fattening pig carcasses by type of animal in certain SEUROP quality and fat quality classes, as well as the price slaughterhouses are paying producers for a 20-kilo sold-on piglet.

Content

Information is collected on the number, weight in kilos and price (EUR/100 kg, including delivery to the slaughterhouse) of fattening pig carcasses in both Finland and other EU countries. The average price of a 20-kilo sold-on piglet is also recorded.

Categories

Data is presented by SEUROP quality class and on average for all quality classes.

Data collection and sources

Data is collected using a questionnaire sent to all Finnish slaughterhouses that process over 80,000 full-grown fattening pigs per year. Prices for other EU countries are collated from European Commission reports.

Update frequency

Data is collected weekly.

Preparation and publication schedule

The Prices of Fattening Pig Carcasses and Sold-on Piglets in Finland and the Prices of Fattening Pig Carcasses and Sold-on Piglets in the EU reports are both published on Wednesdays. Finnish prices are given for the previous week, while the EU prices shown are for two weeks ago.

Data is available from 1995 onwards.
