During the first quarter of 2010:
Cereals purchased
- A total of 540 million kilos of cereals entered the market from farms.
- Barley accounted for almost half (250 million kilos) of all cereal purchases.
- Bread wheat purchases from farms (110 million kilos) were noticeably larger than in 2009.
- A total of 40 million kilos of rape and turnip rape entered the market from farms.
Cereals used
- Industry used a total of 310 million kilos of cereals.
- Almost 100 million kilos of cereals were used for food and 130 million kilos for feed.
- Almost 40 million kilos of barley were used for malting.
