- In 2011 the cultivated area was 2,287,000 hectares. The largest changes in cultivated areas since 2010 were the growth of the grain cultivation area to 1,103, 000 hectares (+91,000 ha) and decrease of the turnip rape are to 77,000 hectares (–64,000 ha).
- Of all cereal plants, the cultivation area of winter wheat increased relatively the most, by 77%. The total cultivation area of wheat increased by 43,000 hectares to 257,000 hectares.
- The cultivation area of grass plants grew slightly from the year before (+7,500 ha) to 667,000 hectares.
- Cultivation of horse bean did not grow as much as in the previous years. In 2011 the cultivation area of horse bean was 9,700 hectares, which was approximately 3 per cent more (+300 ha) than in 2010.
- The total area of fallow fields, nature management fields and green manure decreased by 31,000 hectares to 276,000 hectares.
