During the year 2013:

  • Industry and cereal traders purchased nearly 1.9 billion kg of cereals from farms, 80 million kg less than in the previous year. A combined volume of about 63 million kg of rape and turnip rape was purchased, 7 million kg less than in the previous year.
  • Industry used a total of 1.3 billion kg of Finnish and foreign cereals, almost the same amount as in the previous crop year. Of this total, 45% was used by the animal feed industry, 32% by the food industry and the remaining 22% by all other industry sectors.

At the end of December 2013:

  • Trade and industry stocks contained a combined total of nearly 540 million kg of cereals and a combined total of nearly 18 million kg of rape and turnip rape. The total amount of cereals was about 14 million kg less than in the previous year, and the amount of rape and turnip rape was almost six million kg more.
