The arable land areas for 2010 are advance information on 23 July 2010:
- Finland’s 2.3 million hectare arable land area’s major changes in 2010 are transition from grain (-193,000 ha) to oilseeds and protein crops (+ 87,000 ha) and fallow (+77,000 ha).
- Grain cultivation area, 1,010,000 hectares, is the smallest in 15 years, if it is realised.
- Barley area, 447,000 hectares, will decrease a quarter from 2009.
- Turnip rape area, 142,000 hectares, will double from 2009. The area is the largest in the 100 years of history in arable land statistics.
- Broad bean expectedly increased its popularity. The area will be threefold to approximately 10,000 hectares.
